Bangkok trip day 2 part one
I feel rich!!!! Yeah you would if you see the prices of clothes in Bangkok. But first must tell you about my day trip to the Chao Phraya River.
The tour guide picked us up bright and early along with the rest of the passengers from other hotels.
There were some quite well-off singaporeans on board.
Cos they were comparing the hotels. "Not as good as ours...."
Sigh when can I afford to stay in five star hotel.
Now have to stay in budget hotels.
They were going to go for shark's fins and bird's nest later.
Okie, back to the trip down the river.
I love to take boat rides.
Very windy and soothing. Feels as if any trouble can be gone with the wind.
We were brought to a Wat Arun, temple of the dawn. But supposedly it looks good at dusk too. The temple is named after the Indian god of dawn, Aruna. The steps are very steep. We were scared of tumbling down after our climb up.
We also passed by a mini floating market. Its really mini. Only two boats. They had to give the tour guide commission.... So i think they do not earn much at the end of the day.
As we passed a temple, the tour guide encouraged us to buy bread to feed the catfish in the river. It's to bring good luck. You cannot catch fish near the temple cos it will be bad luck.
To conclude the trip, we were brought to a gemstone factory.
This is the factory frequented by Megawati.
The gems they specialised in producing include rubies, sapphires and emeralds.
As usual, the kiddies had no $$$ to spare.
The sales assistants did not even bother to come and ask us even if we were looking at the gems.
Erm except for one guy sales assistant. He chatted with us and asked where we were from.
After ohing and ahing at the sparkling gemstones, we were on our way to pratunam market....
