road trip 4 July part two

Our final stopover before we reached alishan was in fenqihu. Fenqihu is the halfway point on the narrow-gauge Alishan railway. Map of Fenqihu:Me with the new puma bag i bought. It sure came in handy as a day trip back from taipei.

The "train ticket counter" i saw. Think it actually sells food. Old street, The street is narrow, crowded and small. More food to try.
The alishan forest train will pass by Fenqihu. No train at the moment, so everyone stepped onto the railway. An old train in the train museum. Scene of old street as we were goin back down to meet the van driver.
After 4 hours, we had finally reached our hotel. Yippee. Not very nice though. The hotel only provided one large towel. And it looked yellowish. Not much cable tv. So no watching of world cup and k dramas..... The food we bought from Fenqihu. Railway lunchbox and tree tomato.

A closer look at the food. Railway lunchbox was yummy. There were sausages, preserved veg, meat (black wild boar) and bamboo shoots. I love bamboo shoots. The tree tomato is a mix of tomato and passionfruit. A mixture of sweet and sour.

The train cakes we bought. They looked like square mooncakes with a train stamped on the surface.

After we had eaten the lunchbox, we walked over to another hotel to collect our forest train ticket. Here we learnt about the full/half ticket. Full ticket is for adult. Half ticket is for children and school-going people. Cos people kept asking us what ticket we wanted. Outside the hotel, I saw a flower and tried out the close-up capability of my camera.

The special characteristics of the forest railway.
1. One of the three famous mountaineering railway
2.Train is driven from Chiayi (elevation of 30m) to Alishan (elevation of 2216m), maximum grade of 6.26% and minimum curve radius of 40m
3. Train is driven to mountains in the way of "push".....

View of the zhongzheng village. I stitched the different pics toget. But it looks small now.Part of the photo enlarged:

It was getting dark.....

It was dark.

The yellow dog which kept us company while we ate at the roadside stall. The stall auntie like got pms. very grouchy. No business still so grouchy. We asked her questions about the food and she snapped back at us. No wonder no business lah. After we had eaten, the dog actually left too.
