MOF- My Izayaka 8 Sep

Ohhhh good japanese food and desserts at this new restaurant at marina square. We took half an hour deciding wat to order. WHich is nothing new. We always pore through the menu, scrutinising the pictures and the description of the dishes. After thinking for a long time, three of us finally made up our mind: hamburger with mozarella cheese (recommended by the newspaper). To our disappointment, we were told that the dish was not available! Yikes, what to do now. We killed so many brain cells, thinking about wat to eat.

Then, YY suggested we could actually shared the set between two people since it was a lot of food. We must have been too famished to have thought of that earlier. The set comes with sweet potato/salmon/unagi stone bowl rice, chicken/pork katsu/beef shabu shabu, crab maki/california maki/soba crepe, coffee/tea and top up three bucks for desserts (many choices!). We chose two sets: salmon and unagi rice, katsu and shabu shabu, crab maki and soba crepe, tea and green tea imo and a long jap name dessert (cant remember liao).
The shabu shabu was fun. Cooking our own food. The beef was tender and tasted great with the apple sauce. Salad with radish sauce was not bad too. There was tofu with unagi as well. Really a huge set. Still got some more food....

The salmon stone bowl rice. We smelled someone eating it at the neighbouring table and changed our order to this. It smelled great. Fun too. Like pepper lunch. Cook our own food. Must keep stirring it so that it would not stick to the bottom. The unagi version was more moist due to the sauce given. But both were equally delicious.

This is an interesting dish. Soba crepe. Soba is wrapped around with crepe and topped with mayonnaise. You dip it into the soup before popping it into your mouth. Nice! The crab maki was cripsy but less refreshing than this soba dish.

The desserts were scrumptious. Hmmm. Looks are deceiving though. The green tea imo (recommended by the newspaper) was actually pretty good. The sweet potato was cripsy on the outside but soft on the inside. Quite a surprise.

The soft serve is soft and milky. Hokkaido ice cream are really good. The fruits and the dumplings and the kanten make it a wonderful combination. The serving is large compared to other restaurants.

Service is good too. Kept refilling our greentea. The waiters were helpful and courteous. Think it's because of the four million smiles campaign. The visitors are coming to singapore soon.

Wanted to order more desserts. But decided to save space for venezia ice cream. However, by the time we walked over to venezia, the ice cream parlour was closed for the day. Being greedy, I still had an icecream. Green tea with red bean gelato from azabu sabo. Yummy. Now will have this ice cream each time i vist marina.
