Roselle

29 May. Do not read on if you intend to eat..... Roselle. Sounds like a harmless name. Anyone knows wat it is? Make a guess first before u continue reading.

I walked past a medical hall after lunch. Opened the fridge and looked at the herbal drinks available. Roselle caught my eye. Initially, I thought it was a rose herbal tea. At most, will taste like bandung. Paid the auntie at the shop and took a sip of the drink. Hmmm tasted like ribena. Not too bad. But did not expect it to be sweet since it is herbal. Herbal stuff taste bitter most of the time.

As i was curious about roselle, I went to google it. This was wat i found:
The botanical name of this plant is Hibiscus Sabdariffa. Its common name is Roselle. The constituents of the flowers contain gossypetin, anthocyanin, and glucoside hibiscin, which may have diuretic and choleretic effects, decreasing the viscosity of the blood, reducing blood pressure and stimulating intestinal peristalsis. Roselle is a folk remedy for abscesses, bilious conditions, cancer, cough, debility, dyspepsia, dysuria, fever, hangover, heart ailments, hypertension, neurosis, scurvy, and strangury.

After drinking the whole 500 mL in the bottle, I had diarrhea. It was a very bad diarrhea. The kind where your stomach churns like siao and when you visit the toilet, it is so explosive that it makes a lot of noise. This is embarrassing, especially if there is somebody else in the next cubicle. The exact scenario that i dreaded happened. I tried to control the explosions but to no avail. Was hoping that the person in the next cubicle did not know who the cause of the explosions was. Did not meet the person face-to-face in the toilet at all. My diarrhea cleared after she had stepped out of the loo.

This diarrhea continued even after i had reached home. Roselle is really a good purgative, making me diarrhea so many times. For those constipated, go try.
