KTV!!!!!!!

i went ktv again....
i know i know. the karaoke queen could not help herself.
so it was a round of ktv with clarice.
met clarice after work and patronised kbox at jurong east.
now there is no longer students' rate at nite.
maybe cos these are the holidays and students traffic is high.
the package is from 7pm to 3am!!!!! imagine 8 hours of pure singing.
lalallala...
but we din stay till 3am cos clarice is working the next day.
we sang till 11 plus only. very tame.
i have this plan in mind:
we can go ktv at cineleisure and sing till 3am.
then we go to a 24 h coffeeshop and eat supper/breakfast and chat(if our voices are still intact after the bout of non-stop singing).
we will wait till the mrt starts running and make our way home.
anyone game?
prior to ktv, i shopped at causeway point. metro sale.
anyway, i wanted to buy a pair of pants. tried and tried but all too long....
woes of a shortie.
the correct length is actually that of a 3/4 pants.
goodness.
in the end i bought a pair of black pants at bossini at $22. a good bargain. but then need to alter....sigh
bought more shoes from bata.
now got $9 sale.
simply fantastic.
the down side is that it's burning a hole in my pocket.

sale??

i went to my fav haunt.
no prizes for guessing where.
if u noe me well, u will noe.
it's jurong point.
wanted to spend the john little voucher on something.
but i could not find anything i fancied.
i really wished to contribute to the economy.....
anyway, it's supposed to be the great singapore sale.
but i do not see much sale.
mabbe it's not near the end of the GSS.
i can wait.
patience my dear....
have u ever been skeptical about people asking for directions?
there was an old lady who called me 'xiaojie, xiaojie' from behind me
i turned and asked her,'yeah?'
she said,'u noe where is esprit? i supposed to meet my daughter-in-law. i went toilet and lost her.'
i thought to myself,'is she goin to rob me or? very strange leh...'
i am so kind lor. i brought her from the second floor to the first floor where esprit is.
she thanked me profusely.
so it turned out to be perfectly harmless.

exciting day as a bookworm

the day started out normally.
had my usual tuition class with my kid.
then it's off to the airport to send menu off to india.
she doing volunteer work there.
wish her all the safety at work.
suddenly i like goin to the airport.
brings back good memories of trips abroad.
i wanna go bangkok and shop again.
shoppin is so much fun.
best that the trip is with frens.
menu intro a fren to us.
a guy fren.
but the guy neva extend hands to us.
so we kept our hands to ourselves.
think guys should take the initiative?
mabbe i still belong to the old school.
after the airport send off,
me and jam went to expo for books and food.
din noe that the mph sale will have good buys.
must really search.
the same title can have differ prices depending on the cover.
i bought a malay dictionary for $5, hilary clinton memoirs for $5 and novel a rule of four for $8 (it's hard cover! $2 cheaper than the soft cover one)
we spent more than two hours in the sea of books.
jam bought even more books....close to $50. so u noe who u can borrow new books from.
then we proceeded to the food fair.
singaporeans love food.
i am a true foodie too.
the place was packed.
but then not many food to try.
interesting foods like german pork knuckles (which we din try when we were in germany!), abalone soup, macau hor fun, instant mashed potato(the only sample we took. it was yummy. cheese flavoured.)
soon it was closing time and we went to take the mrt home.
i stood all the way from tanah merah to chinese garden.
goodness. developed muscles from holdin the books and food.
luckily got eye candy on the train.
i was less than 30 cm from a cute guy. cos the train was packed.
well u gain some and lose some.

shopping?

The great singapore sale is now on.
Means more $$$ going down the drain.
But retail therapy is fantastic.
Window shopping, looking for something makes me feel good.
Even if i do not buy anything.
Of course, it's best if i can buy something.
I am stingy.
Sale means must be cheap then i will buy.
It's funny that the more I try to look for a particular item.
The less i will find it.
It's kinda frustrating.
I ended up buying a pair of bata shoes @ $9.
It's definitely a steal!!!!
wanted to spend more $$$ but could not find the pants i want.
Maybe i should try another shopping mall.
Shop till you drop.

American idol

yup. this should be the hottest topic among teens right now.
So who will win?
I only watch the show on and off.
But judging by today's show, it will be a close-call cos the genre is totally different for the two contestants.
Carrie is country while Bo is rock.
Carrie is really pretty. And sweet. She will get the popularity votes.
Bo is the more mature performer. And can galvanise the crowd.
Who am i rootin for?
Neither.
I din feel blown away like i was by fantasia.

shopaholic ties the knot

I finally read the book.
After i had found it in the library, unclaimed by anyone.
Usually it is such a hot book that there is a huge reserve list.
Could not believe my luck when i found it with sotong.
Maybe sotong is my lucky star.
Well, we are all sea creatures....
Anyway, this book is not exactly that fantastic.
Just that it was on the bestseller's list before.
Its kinda bimbotic cos this gal rebecca loves shopping.
She cannot resist not buying.
Plus the things she buys are branded.
In this story, she was getting married to a super rich guy, luke.
She could not decide where to have the wedding.
Her parents were preparing a wedding in England and her mother-in-law's wedding planner was preparing one in New York.
Since she could not bear to hurt people's feelings (in actual fact she wanted to have both weddings), she did not reject either.
Until it was too late.
Cos if she gave up the New York Wedding, had to pay 100 000 dollars compensation.
If she gave up the England one, her parents would be upset.
In the end, she did have two weddings.
Goodness, things that people fret about.
I thought would be like bread and butter issues.
I wish i was that rich.....

A beautiful mind

I know I am outdated.
But better late than never right?
Yeah cos I seldom go to the movies.
Wanna save $$$. Then I spend it on food.
I am a foodie. I love good food. Slurp.
Really recommend the show to people who wanna experience what goes on in the mind of a schizophrenic.
But then again I do not know how true the depiction of John Nash was.
I was shocked, totally, when I learnt that all the things about working as an agent, Charles as the roommate and his niece etc were all imaginary.
It freaked me out. It felt so real!!!
So in their world, they must be even more real.
I watched a documentary before and it said that they could hear voices telling them what to do and could even harm others in extreme cases.
I admired alicia's love for john.
She stood by him and never gave up hope.
So true love does exist in the world.
Have faith.

chocolat, anyone?

i watched chocolat, finally.
remember the newspaper gave very good reviews.
well, i am not a movie person, stingy cos dun wanna spend my 8 bucks on a movie. now the ticket prices increasing further.
so think wont see me in a movie theatre. haha.
the chocs looked deliciously sinful. slurp.
the plot is very engaging.
at first thought that it might be slow paced and boring cos stories set in the olden days are usually like that.
but i was pleasantly surprised.
yet again, cos i watched pleasantville and had the same feelings.
chocolat is about a mother and daughter who moved from place to place to save and heal people in an unorthodox way.
the mother sold chocolates and made friends through her shop.
they arrived in a small village and became the instant enemy of the count in charge of the place.
they sold food during the fasting period and did not attend church.
of course, things would always turn out fine in the end.
there are a few things i did not understand in the show. so maybe someone can enlighten me:
1. what happened to the count's wife?
2. is it a tradition for the wife to leave the husband and help to heal people?
3. wat exactly is the moral of the story? accept differences in people?
sorry i missed some parts of the show while channel surfin during commercial breaks.
