Missed calls

You have a missed call. And a new voice message.
Who could it be? When i heard his voice, i knew it was HIM.
The guy who called me every birthday. Compared to the guy who smsed me.
Wah so scandalous. Erm who is it???
That guy is a financial planner aka insurance agent. Nowadays job titles getting more fanciful and powerful. So this guy is actually someone i knew from drama class. He was our class monitor then. He is very persistent in clinching deals. He can wait so many years for me to finally graduate and call every year without fail. goodness. such patience and perserverance.
I rejected his attempt to sell me insurance, telling him i have not really been accepted into the working society. Tactically that is the truth cos i do not get cpf and my job title is just an intern. But i do get a stipence. A little bit of money for me to get by.
He got the idea that i was poor and could not invest. BUT he said he would call again. In four months' time, on my birthday. I am so speechless.

Harry potter really looks like bae yong jun

Goodness. Potter looks like Bae. I agree with this statement made by a ST journalist after watching the movie. Daniel Radcliffe has grown up. The rest of the cast as well. They seem weird to be cast as the young characters. But it will be strange to change the entire cast too.

Throughout the movie, boy-gal relationships are highlighted. Even Potter is in love with some gal. Which brings to mind the chinese saying that heroes cannot escape from the beauty trap. Boys will like girls and girls will like boys.

Eh there are exceptions too. Recently, a guy married another guy in malaysia. the guy had a sex change. Makes your mind wonder why....

New phone

I should be excited over my new phone. But i am not that excited. Some time ago, i had been feeling a bit depressed over life. That was when i badly wanted some change in my life. My hp contract was almost up then. 18 months completed. Very happily, i called m1. However, to my greatest disappointment, i found out that i could not upgrade since the requirement was 20 months. Sad but i got over it and was happier. I managed to crawl out of my depressed mode.

But i still wanted a new phone. I think that it will be a waste not to upgrade when you are given a chance to. You can get a new hp at a cheaper price. Why forgo this opportunity? That was when i started to shortlist the phones.

Razer v3, slim, not too bad. Plus it had some best mobile design of the year.
O2, it's a smart phone but a bit ex.
D500C, nice lookin slidephone. Ex though.
Cost is a limiting factor. I dun see the need to spend too much $$ on a phone. In the end, i decided on x800 cos it can read microsoft office files. semi smart phone at an affordable price.

HOWEVER, this was wat happened when GAL meets PHONE:
Ah so not very nice leh. quite huge. not wat i had imagined it to be. My LG is much smaller. I cannot accept a flip-phone which is large in size.
Therefore, i hesitated and did not buy it. I went home and gave it some thought and bought it the next day.

So wat if it's slightly larger. It has brains mah. Appearance does not matter. As long as it is useful. To make it useful, i make myself read word file on it. Studying from it while on the train. Then it's worth the $$$.

Baccarat

Absolutely full. Burp.
My stomach feels as if it is goin to burst. Still suffering from the aftermath of a buffet.
Goin to make jam jealous by saying that there was sashimi. salmon, tuna, swordfish. Plus some sushi as well. I love jap food. yum yum.
There was quite an assortment of international food. Chilli crabs which always ran out when the dish was put out. Tempura ebi was snapped up by the hungry diners, leaving behind the tempura yasai. A lady even took the entire plate of ebi, leaving the diners queueing behind her in silence anger. Had to wait again.
The oysters were good. They looked white, unlike the ones which had lotsa black bits at a restaurant in suntec. Fresher and tastier. Must take more oysters to make your $$ worth. Clayfish too.
The highlight was the chocolate fondue. You can dip your fruits in a choc fountain. Strawberries are the best with chocolate. Ate quite a number of strawberries. The only thing lacking was marshmellows. They taste the best with chocolate. How i miss those BBQ days.....
So many food, too little space. Old liao cannot eat much. Stomach seems to have shrunk. I din even try all the different types of food. Pasta, chinese noodles, soba etc. And i din even eat lunch! Gosh, sure lugi at buffets.

Not again...

Initial plan was to go iceskating. Must at least go skate once a year. Its a ritual. So met up with clarice at the rink and we decided not to go in the end. cos the rink was getting crowded. some kid was goin to have a birthday party. imagine a rink filled with kids. i will be scared cos the kids are very zai skaters and may skate dangerously close to me. then i will fall in an ungraceful manner. *plop*

Since kboz was conveniently located next door, we conveniently spent our time there. we were there about two weeks ago??!! however the experience felt similar to wat happened then.

previously the waiter got our orders wrong. brought ice tea instead of milo. then still brought the wrong item. hot tea. goodness. this time round its worse. two orders wrong. first our food supposed to be both chicken rice. however the guy brought one chicken rice and told us to wait for the other laksa. we explained that both of us ordered rice. later, he came back and said rice sets sold out. they have limited amount of food??

the second booboo was that this time we wanted two ice tea and he brought as one milo and one tea. Argh, why did this keep happening? strange. the waiter was irritated. we were amused/amazed/irritated as well. gosh

Of mums, money and education

It’s amazing how aunties know everything. They know which schools you attended, wat grades you got and almost everything. My mum was amazed when lately, people had been asking her if her daughter had started working. Then they went on to ask about salary.

Auntie: Your daughter working already hor?
Ma: (shocked) Yeah….
Auntie: How much she earn ah?
Ma: She just interning, not really working. Very little. Just 2K.
Auntie: Wah so little meh. I thought your daughter uni grad.

Who decreed that uni grads must earn truckloads of money? Sadly, our society judged people on how much they earn. If you earn lots of money, it indicates you have acquired a certain aura. Sigh, uni grads earn so little how??? I did a rough calculation. On a 2K plus salary, you will take more than ten years to finish repaying house debt. How do people even support a car and lead an extravagant lifestyle on this miniscule pittance? That’s why there are more bankrupts nowadays who spend future money and cannot pay. That’s why people rather keep dogs than have kids. How to provide a good life for the kids? Nowadays, young people are so self-centered that they only care about themselves. Ask them do housework, they run away from home. Wah wat kind of warped thinking is that?

Language: a barrier?

All along I thought that language was the problem between two people. If you speak Chinese in front of a non-chinese, the other party will feel disturbed and may even think that you are talking about him/her. As such, I have always tried to speak English when there are non-chinese speakers around. This is an act of respect. Likewise, I will feel strange if people speak languages that I do not understand in front of me.

I thought that was the problem. I changed my mind today. Even English, a common language can be a problem. During a meal with a handful of people, I felt totally unease. The thing was that they kept talking about their common friends.

Hey do you know who YY is?
Yes.
Wah such a coincidence.
Yak yak yak

Warrao. Cant we switch to a common topic??? Then everyone can take part in the conversation. I just kept quiet throughout the whole meal. There was nothing I could contribute cos I did not know YY, ZZ etc. I was just wondering how I should have reacted. Say politely that I did not know these people they were talking about and changed the subject for them?

To love or not to love

Been watching too many sob sob stories on tv. Bought a korean drama series called cat on the roof. It was half price at poh kim. worth the buy. plus can entertain me for many hours. I am a real cheapo. Wanna get value for money.

So wat is the show about? its about unrequitted love. sigh. it's terribly sad to see the female lead trying so hard to win the guy's love. Under some unusual circumstances, the guy had to stay with the gal. Slowly, the gal fell in love with the guy and did many silly things for him. But he did not appreciate. He just kept scolding her. Guess if it's someone we do not like, no matter wat he/she does, we will think it's pointless. The most annoying thing was that the guy asked the gal to help him explain a misunderstanding to a gal he liked. The silly gal acutally forsook her pride (she disliked the other gal!) and explained things to her.

The show got exciting when her boss liked her and began to chase her. This made the guy very jealous. He started to feel his first heartbreak and he realised he might actually be in love with the gal. But it seemed to be a little too late cos the gal had given up......

ANother sad story was the recent swordsman show on channel 8. The male lead had not treasured the gal when she was alive and believed that she wanted to harm him. Even the gal's love opponent could tell that the gal would never harm him though she was supposed to work for the enemy. In the end, the gal died. Then he regretted his actions. I felt so sorry for the gal. All she wanted was for him to treat her better. And he could not.
